Issuu for iPad is now in BETA

BIG day at Issuu! The BETA release of Issuu for iPad is finally here.

It’s a web-based HTML5 reader for Safari. We’re really proud of bringing the beautiful reading experience from the Issuu desktop browser to Apple’s tablet.

As a BETA, there’s alot we plan to build on. Links, sharing, downloading, and printing aren’t in this version. Nor is the ability to embed a document or read an embedded document. Read the iPad FAQ.

The best way to access a document on your iPad is via direct link or from Issuu site. To make things easier, there’s a new tab on our home screen shelf, called ‘Read on iPad.’ We’ll be constantly updating this with newly converted documents.

iPad Issuu BETAYou can also find select iPad-ready publications through our explore page, featuring Issuu staff picks for lifestyle mags and beautiful catalogs.

Start exploring now.

iPadBETA Issuu Reader

With over 5 million documents in Issuu’s library, it’ll take some patience before everything becomes available. In the meantime, we’ve asked our 1-year and 2-year Pro publishers to try it out before we roll it out to everyone.

For publishers who can’t wait, you’re welcome to join the BETA.

Upgrade to 1-year Pro to join.

This is a great step in the right direction! We’re really excited about all the new iPad-specific features to come.

“Reading embedded publications” has our vote for next new feature. Keep up the good work guys.

A little confused, hasn’t the Issuu reader always been iPad compatible?

On a related note, are you guys planning on offering an app service down the road for Apple Newsstand support?

Hi Brian, before you could access the Issuu site from iPad’s browser, but our full-screen reader didn’t display very well. Our HTML5 BETA release makes it compatible. Since it’s a BETA, there’s more to come, including offline reading capability like the Newsstand.

    Hi guys,

really great job! It’s fast and easy to use.

But even for the BETA version, there should be at least the function of “overview”, otherwise it’s a bit tricky if you have more than 50 Pages.

I vote for 3 most important features:

    1. Overview
    2. Hyperlinks
    3. Search this document

    Anyway, I love it ;-)

I am an issuu pro subscriber. Do I need to pay a separate subscription if I want to have my publication readable on iPads? Or is this a feature that is available to me under my current subscription plan?

Hi Martha, thanks for your question. If your Pro subscription is Annual or Biannual, your documents will be readable on iPad. Consider switching your membership from monthly to Annual in your Account Center. For more info, please write business@issuu.com.

I read offline on my iPad by downloading the PDF on my PC to a Dropbox folder, and then opening the PDF from my iPad dropbox folder into iBooks on the iPad.

Hi guys… love your site but I travel a lot and the only time I can read is usually on my flights. Love to be able to read my subscription to Pollstar offline. Need this feature to make Issuu a home run!

we are pro members, but find that our new publications take a while to be available for the iPad. How long does it take, once published, for our ezine to be processed for mobile?

Hi Garry, if you’re a 1-year or 2-year Pro subscriber your publications should take a day or two to convert. If you need more support, please write to business@issuu.com

We need an aplication to show catalogs of products created with ISSUU, off line and on an iPad. This would be specially usefull since in many fairs you do not have internet coverage.

Hi Patrick, interesting point. We unfortunately don’t have an offline mode, since our iPad reader is a web-based HTML5 solution. Your best solution might be to create your own internet hotspot at these fairs. If you need more support, please write to business@issuu.com

Another feature that would be great for the iPad version would be one of those notifications that appears when someone navigates to our catalog “tap here to add this to your home screen” – our customers and sales folks would love that!
