Creating a Table of Contents with Issuu Hyperlinks

In our last post we talked about the relaunch of Issuu Platform & Services. One of the cool new tools is hyperlink actions within a publication. In this post we’ll show you how to create an interactive table of contents (TOC) in your magazine. For a great example take a look at the latest issue of Fan The Fire:

[issuu layout=http%3A%2F%2Fskin.issuu.com%2Fv%2Flight%2Flayout.xml showflipbtn=true pagenumber=5 documentid=091001001651-abcf112101684bf6ac499b365e62d128 docname=fanthefiremagazineissue25 username=LOADmagazine loadinginfotext=Fan%20the%20Fire%20Magazine%20%2325%20-%20October%202009 showhtmllink=true tag=style width=420 height=272 unit=px]

Notice the icon that appears when you mouse-over an image or title on page 5. It is created simply by inserting a link in the document before uploading to Issuu, http://issuu.com/action/page?page=[pagenumber] where [pagenumber] is the page you want readers to go to. In the example below the link is http://issuu.com/action/page?page=86.

There are many more things you can do with Issuu hyperlinks.  Take a look at all the hyperlink actions. Enjoy.

    This is great news!
Although I hope the bosses don’t see this… that will mean a whole load more hyperlinks I’ll need to be creating every issue!
