If the title above makes no sense to you, it’s probably because you missed our recent post about the new highly customizable embed feature and something we call auto-embedding.
Auto-embedding is for newspapers and magazines that wants to automatically embed their latest edition. They can now install the code from a specific folder on their website, and then just drag their latest edition into the folder to update the embedding on their site.
Eventually we will add easy support for customizing the way the auto-embedding looks. For those of you who can’t wait, here’s how to do it today:
1. Get the auto-embed code from a folder in My Library.
2. Extract the part where it says folder-Id=e69729f5-9916-4c37-816f-86bf0318a880 (in your case a similarly long number).
3. Get the customized code from the embed guide.
4. Replace documentId=090316134450-810b4709713e4f73a37b312d0478f191 (in your case a similarly long number) with the extracted folder-ID. Notice that it’s mentioned in two places.
Here’s what it should look like with the replaced IDs (click to enlarge):
5. Finally, paste the modified code to your blog or website, and you’re done!
Below is a live example of a customized embedding that automatically updates it’s content every time I bookmark a great publication on Issuu. Shouldn’t you have one of those on your blog? It’s the perfect way of showing your readers what you’re interested in at the moment.
You can even edit the short text when loading the viewer by changing the value for ‘loadingInfoText’ in the code. Please note that this trick was only tested using the HTML code and is currently not supported with the Joomla and Wordpress plugin.
